Intimate Winter Elopement | Columbus OH
Rachel, Adam, and I met for the first time at Pistachia
Vera, a cute little coffee shop in German Village. Adam is a Columbus firefighter,
and he and Rachel had recently moved to the area for his exciting new job.
Their wedding date was set for next fall, and I was so excited to get to know
them and their sweet family!
Several weeks later, an email from Rachel appeared in my
inbox. The first words I read were something along the lines of… “My palms are
SWEATING… because we want to get married at the COURTHOUSE!” She went on to
explain that while they were excited to celebrate their marriage with a large
group of friends and family, what they really wanted was to be married, and an
intimate ceremony would be so much more them.
So the planning began! Rachel found a gorgeous long-sleeve lace dress with bell
sleeves to perfectly match their romantic winter elopement, and completed her
ensemble with a whimsical braided up-do and beautiful bouquet splashed with colors to
reflect the holiday season. When the day arrived, just three days before
Christmas, I met Adam and his adorable son Shore just outside the courthouse.
We waited for Rachel to arrive so they could do a first look outside on the
steps, just before they tied the knot. Accompanied by just their parents (and
Shore, who found the elevator ride VERY exciting), we found our way up to the
ninth floor, and emerged fifteen minutes later with rings exchanged, vows said,
and tears shed.
Rachel and Adam, thank you for allowing me to be a part of
your wedding day. Yours was my first elopement to photograph, and it was a
blessing to witness your love poured out in such an understated, intimate way.
I can’t wait to celebrate again with you next year, and best wishes to you both
as you undergo the best adventure you’ll ever take—doing life together as
husband and wife.
