Winter Columbus Engagement Session

Where do I start? Maranda and Aaron are SUCH a sweet couple, and I absolutely loved spending a chilly December afternoon with them last week! The weather was freezing and windy, but we were blessed with a few snowflakes to make it all worthwhile ;) These two are such an amazing couple, and you can tell from just spending a few minutes with them that they have a heart for service. Maranda works for a non-profit and Aaron is a police officer, and if they put as much care into their jobs as they do in their marriage, we are all better off for it!

Cari & Bernie | Ireland Anniversary Portraits

Anniversary Session in Dublin, Ireland

I'm so exited to be sharing the first (of MANY) images from our trip to IRELAND!!!! We were there for a week with our friends Cari and Bernie, who we got to know during the time that we lived in Illinois before moving to Columbus! They drove all the way to our place in Ohio, and then the four of us carpooled to New York City to spend a little time there before we flew out of JFK nonstop to Dublin.

Rekha + Alex | Engaged

Fall Engagement Session at The Ohio State University

Basically five seconds after Rekha sat down across the table from Josh and me at Starbucks, I knew I wanted to be a part of her wedding day. She is sweet, bubbly, and down to earth, and Alex is a lucky guy to be marrying her next year! Rekha teaches kindergarten and Alex is currently in med school, but soon their long distance will be over and they'll be able to call themselves husband and wife! I first met Alex at their session, and from the moment I shook his hand I could see that he's an amazing guy and perfect for Rekha. They are so happy when they're together, and care more about one another than the details and frills of the wedding day.

Rekha and Alex met during their freshman year at Ohio State, and it was so fun to walk around campus and hear stories of the memories they've shared there. We had a beautiful fall day and the leaves were at the peak of colorfulness. Enjoy some favorites from their session!

Kendra + Shane | Engaged

Fall Engagement Session | Ohio Stadium & Whetstone Park of Roses

The first time Josh and I met Kendra and Shane, we sat in a Starbucks talking about all things weddings (and beyond), and I remember leaving that meeting so hoping that they would choose us to be a part of their wedding day! They are a super sweet couple who love to smile, love the Buckeyes, and can't wait to become husband and wife. Sure enough, they did, and then it was time for their engagement session! Kendra and Shane had just two requests-- Ohio Stadium and fall colors, and boy did we hit the jackpot! We rescheduled due to some nasty wet weather and the date we chose ended up being perfect, because the week of their session the leaves everywhere were painted in red, orange, and gold. The weather was a little chilly (okay a LOT chilly!!) but they were both troopers and we were able to get some AMAZING images! Kendra and Shane were naturals in front of the camera, and relaxed so easily into poses and smiles. Kendra has the cutest little giggle and it was so easy for them to smile, because they just enjoy being around each other. I am ridiculously excited for their wedding next summer and to share these images with you!! So without further ado, here are some of my favorites from their session :)

Ohio Countryside Engagement

As I drove through the countryside on my way to Lizz's parents house to meet her and Devon for their engagement session, I just had a feeling it was going to be a beautiful evening. And wouldn't you know it, I was exactly right! Lizz greeted me at the door in a flowy gold gown, and I knew it was going to be amazing. We had such a great time exploring the property surrounding her parent's home, and even included their sweet pup in a few of the images.

Lori + Justin | Engaged

Goodale Park & Arena District Engagement Session | Columbus

So many engagement over here and I am just loving it! Lori and Justin are such a special couple, and I can't wait to photograph them as they make their vows this spring. They ended up together through a twist of fate, having known each other a long time, when finally the life circumstances were right and their love story fell into place. Even after only spending a few hours with them, I can tell you that Justin is an incredibly selfless person and Lori is as sweet and nurturing as they come. At the same time, they bring so much energy when they are together and were such a treat to work with!

Sam & Stephen | Engaged

Fall Engagement Session in Downtown Columbus

Sam and Stephen are an amazing couple, and I'm so excited to finally be sharing the images from their engagement session! We met in Schiller Park and traveled all the way from there to one of the best spots in town to capture that gorgeous Columbus skyline. I love our city and it's always so much fun to shoot with couples in an area that shows it off in all its grandeur!

Fall Sunrise Session in Dublin, OH

Oh my goodness, I just LOVE photographing seniors!!! Every senior session reminds me of my own senior portraits, and how excited I was for them. I'm also always reminded of how gorgeous and grown-up today's seniors seem to be... I was definitely still in my awkward phase until about age twenty. Anybody with me?!

I digress, because this post is all about Maddi! I had the opportunity to shoot her older sister Claire's senior portraits two years ago, and I was so excited when Maddi reached out to me about taking her senior pictures too! We met in downtown Dublin early in the morning and had so much fun together. Every outfit this girl put on was stunning, and her fiery red hair and glowing personality were a match made in heaven! It was so hard to pick favorites for this post because every single shot was just beautiful.

Meghan + Ty | Engaged

Indian Run Falls | Dublin OH

Where to begin with Meghan and Ty?! These two beautiful people have known each other since high school, and next summer they'll be making their vows to spend the rest of their lives together! I think it's so special when a couple has known each other since they were young, because there's something so special about those memories of each other through the formative years. It's a special connection and way of understanding the other person that is more difficult to forge as an adult!

Theresa + Jozy | Engaged

Summer Garden Engagement | Inniswood, Westerville OH

Theresa and Jozy get married THIS Saturday! Can you believe it?! It feels like just a few months ago when we sat down at Starbucks to meet them for the first time, and now their wedding day is practically upon us. It's crazy how time flies! These two are such a fun couple, and we had so much fun hanging out at Inniswood. They took to posing so naturally, and I can't wait to take their wedding portraits!

Heather + Jeff | Engaged

If there's one thing that I know about Heather and Jeff after their engagement session, it's that these two know how to work as a team. As a girl who's been married for more than four years, I can attest that teamwork is of the utmost importance in marriage! Heather and Jeff are in the middle of a move and also drove two hours to Columbus for their engagement session, but they were bound and determined to make it happen, and even had some fun along the way.

Lyndsey + BJ | Engaged

If there's one thing that sticks out to me about Lyndsey and BJ, it would have to be just how sweet they are. It was my first time meeting them, but it was immediately obvious how kind they both are and how much they care for each other! They are adorable together in every sense of the word, and I love the way that BJ cares so much for Lyndsey. I spy major husband points for him in the future!

Katie + Daniel | Engaged

Romantic Golden Hour Engagement at Wegerzyn Gardens | Dayton, OH

I met Katie and Daniel on a warm summer evening at Wegerzyn Gardens in Dayton, and from the moment they stepped out of the car, they were all smiles. Katie was a bridesmaid in Zach and Meredith's wedding last winter, and I remembered her sweet demeanor and gorgeous blonde hair and piercing blue eyes. Little did I know that she is actually as sweet as she appears, and her fiancé is just the same!

Claire + Ryan | Anniversary

I had such a great time with Claire and Ryan celebrating their first anniversary! They were married last July, and not only were they one of our Josh Staley Productions couples last year, but they both spent time at our alma mater, Cedarville University! It's so fun to see how small the world is sometimes. These two are such a fun couple-- Claire is so sweet and has an amazing smile, and Ryan knows just how to make her laugh. They just adore each other!

Holly + Matt | Engaged

Waterfront Engagement Session on Lake Erie

Guys.... I am literally so excited about this post! As much as I love Columbus, when I get to shoot in gorgeous locations like this, it makes me want to travel for every session! I spent a Friday afternoon driving up to the Sandusky area to meet Holly and Matt for their engagement session, and once arrived, we hit three separate locations that all had such unique character but with one common thread... they were all on the water! Let me tell you, Ohio-ans have a knack for joking about Lake Erie, but if anyone ever tells you it's not absolutely beautiful, they are lying to you! Holly has family that live in the area (we actually ran into her parents and grandparents at our last location!) and she knew all the best places to go. It was so special to shoot in a location that was not only breathtaking, but also special to Holly and Matt! A decent portion of the evening was spent outrunning storms and running for cover when the raindrops started to fall, but it was worth every minute! The majority of the rain fell as we were driving from once location to another, and at the very end of the night, the skies cleared up to reveal the most beautiful, colorful sunset! It was just breathtaking.

Kelly + Greg | Engaged

Downtown Engagement at Ohio University | Athens OH

I had SO much fun exploring Athens with Kelly and Greg! They met and started their relationship at Ohio University, so it was only fitting that their engagement session brought them back to where it all began. We explored some of their favorite spots around campus, and ended in an alley right next to Kelly's old apartment! Despite a few unexpected showers, the weather was beautiful and we even managed to capture a bit of that golden glow right at the very beginning and end of their session. 

These two are such a perfect match for each other, and I just can't wait for their wedding next summer. They are both naturals in front of the camera and made my job so easy, and I can't wait to celebrate with them as they embark on a new adventure as husband and wife! Kelly and Greg, I hope the next year flies by, because I can't wait to get you in front of my camera again :) You two are the best!
